Explanation: Labklik was an old rap group active in the early 2000s consisting of Dan Smith and Ill Trip. In the late 90s and early 2000s during the peak of the backpacker movement Labklik released a few albums before eventually disbanding for unknown reasons. Dan Smith would go on to form the spoken word band Listener but Ill Tripp's fate is unknown. Presumably he is still alive out there somewhere. Both members of Labklik were members of the larger collective Deepspace5. This album in partciular caught my attention because of its name. Artcore implies to be some kinda artsy rap.
Reasons for Disappearance: While this album was released through Deepspace5 Recordings it just faded in time. Labklik never experienced the level of popularity contemporary acts like Atmosphere got. Deepspace5 as a whole never really got that popular. Dan Smith is arguably the most famous member currently. The records remained in limited circulation for years until in February of 2022 when someone (I'm guessing Ill Tripp) re-issued most of the albums on bandcamp where they can be heard presently.
I only found out about this re-issue recently so I haven't heard it but I've always liked the stuff that Deepspace5 put out. I don't expect this to be any different. Expect abstract, introspective and sometimes spiritual bars over simple beats. These guys are lyricists first and foremost.
