Operation Echo

Operation Echo

Welcome to Operation Echo. This is the blog component to where I'm posting found albums listed from here: Hidden Lost Pockets of Time. I will also be sometimes posting albums from a similar list I maintain called The Missing List. I'll give each release a little blurb and a link to where you can get the album. For ones that still remain offline I will try to keep the link alive as long as I can. However, I implore you download what you can because there is no telling how long these links will live.

Since the start of recorded music there have been plenty of songs, albums, EPs, tracks, etc that have vanished. I don't mean just off streaming services but there are plenty of records that have just outright disappeared from the internet and all underground methods. Maybe the record was only relesaed physically in pre-internet days, maybe the artist deleted the album from bandcamp, maybe copyright abuse took it down, maybe the label decided to pull it, maybe entire websites decided to stop carrying music all-together (looking at you CDBaby), or maybe it just vanished. Either way, there is plenty of music that is lost.

From the hidden list: "The old adage of "once it's on the internet it's there forever' is complete crap and should never have been allowed to propagate. If you hear something you like, obtain it asap. There's no telling how long it will be there. 3 Feet High and Rising has 8000 ratings and it was only until mid-2022 that it was not available on any streaming or for digital sale.

This is a list of lost and rare albums that you and I will probably never hear. This is different from My Missing List as I haven't put any effort in trying to find these. I just keep finding so many lost media albums and need to dump them somewhere in case I randomly come across them. I haven't done any investigations into these; they might still be readily available somewhere.

Also inspired by a bunch of lost media lists I've seen on the site. Will link those below.

If you wanna suggest albums please add some context as to what it is. I'd like to know why that particular record is so interesting. And if you release something just to delete it for this list I will block you. You know who you are. Don't pull that shit again with me.

Releases are sorted by year released. If the year is not known I make a guess when it was probably dropped." ~ From Hidden Lost Pockets of Time.

This blog has no set schedule for posting. Releases will be posted as they are found. Download links will be encoded in Base64. You must decode them to access.

Enjoy!

Rap Bastard / DJ Dog Dick - Split (2004)

Artist: Rap Bastard / DJ Dog Dick Album: Split Location: Baltimore, USA / Genres: Abstract Hip Hop, Sound Collage, Noise Year Released: 2004 Date Re-Found / Posted: 2023-08-?? (recovered by tib) Format(s) Released: Cassette Explanation: I'll admit I know very little about both artists. DJ Dog Dick, real name Max Eisenberg is a noise artist who I mostly know about from a few collabs with rapper Lil Ugly Mane. 'Rap Bastard', aka HZMT I know actually nothing of. When I added this release to my list is was mainly to illustrate just how many lost releases there is for Eisenberg. He released most of his stuff cassette only, and even though he was ahead of the curb, never got much attention cause of that. As I was writing this, I looked into HZMT / Rap Bastard / Anthony Miller and damn does he have a lot of missing and undocumented releases. He ran his own label and released almost everything exclusively on cassette. A true indie artist. Both artists really have large catalogues...

The Convulsions of Creation - Moonba Is Here (1995)

Artist: The Convulsions of Creation [Chris Shepard & Mike Mangino] Album: Moonba Is Here Location: Piscataway, USA Genres: Cassette Underground, Sound Collage, Drone, Noise Year Released: 1995-xx-xx Format(s) Released: Cassette Explanation: Atlas King is a label I have been tracking for years now. Home to the noise duo, Smersh it was active in the Cassette Underground releasing all sorts of weird tapes. This is one of them. Almost all the acts on Atlas King were just akas of Smersh but unlike the duo, the non-Smersh releases experimented with electronic, noise and other genres. The Convulsions of Creation is one such project, a side-thing by Smersh messing more with drone and sound collage. This release is okay. I'm sure someone will enjoy it more. When it comes to noise I don't like ear-splitting sounds. The first track has a few. It's this dissonant, vaguely "Eastern" sounding drone with rattles and some high-pitched sounds. The second and third track are ...

305 808 & N0ϟPΔ☾ƎΔPƎ - Sons of God (2013)

Artist: 305 808 & N0ϟPΔ☾ƎΔPƎ Album: Sons of God: The Most Outer Place Location: Miami, USA Genres: Witch House Rap, Witch House, Trillwave Year Released: 2013 Format(s) Released: Bandcamp Explanation: I'll admit. This is not my cup of tea. Not only do I know very little about these artists I know even less of who they collaborated with. I only know of this from a RYM list I saw where someone mentioned they were looking for this album. All I know about NoSpaceApe is that he was an artist active in the Witch House Rap scene that existed in the early 2010s. The one Black Kray is often considered the founder of. I know absolutely nothing of 305 808. I can't find any info either. This is a Witch House Rap album, with lots of loud distortion, slurred and incomprehensible lyrics and edgy and dark song titles and sounds. In theory I should like it but as I wrote, it's just not for me. I could just write a whole review on how much I didn't like it but ehn. I don't have...
