Explanation:

Man it's almost been a month since the last post! Well here's a rare album to break the silence. Going forward I'm probably just gonna turn this blog into posting whatever albums I want instead of exclusively stuff off my "Hidden Lost Pockets of Time" list.

Anyways, this is Nobs final album and the only one he released under the name Chris. Nobs is an emcee from Brooklyn known mostly for his work with Dezmatic as the duo Dez & Nobs. Prior to that he was part of a rap crew called Neanderthal Youth.

He never really garnered much of a following though released a few albums over the years. His debut album, Musicide, is really good if you're into that depressive-introspective sound that people used to call 'emo rap' (before Lil Peep and BONES became known). Fans of Atmosphere, Cage and Sadistik will enjoy it. That album predicts the kind of sound and style they'd later engage in.

In 2015 after 5 years since both his last mixtape (Psych Suite) and album (Rocky Dennis w/ Dezmatic) and 11 years since his last solo album he released "My Tape". This was to serve as an introduction and a way to come back into the 'rap game'. At least, that's my understanding. Most of the information surrounding this tape has been lost to time. While his earlier stuff was moodier this tape is nothing like that at all, instead going heavy into battle rap, hardcore hip hop and Nobs displaying a mighty pen, hard lyrics and awesome use of metaphors. He sounds more mature, hungry and energetic than on his debut album, even releasing the tape under his first name, Chris, instead of Nobs.

"So damny sneaky I could sell snow to Buffalo."

"G in a duffle bag, cruisin' the ave on a jag with a subtle swag. Bounce on a pig when he runs my tags, more than the tank the space shuttle has."

And he comes through with 10 tracks of good beats, rhymes, flows and deliveries. Not much more one could ask for. Dope stuff all around.

Reasons for Disappearance: The tape was distributed on Soundcloud with downloads enabled and via a ZIP file on his website. At some point after 2016 the website went down and remains to this day. Most of the tracks were also deleted off Soundcloud with only one, Smoked Out still online. Only proof I have that this even dropped was an old post by UGSMAG and an entry on RateYourMusic.

I have no idea where Nobs is these days. His website is down, Soundcloud inactive and he doesn't appear to have any accounts anywhere else I can find. I found there's a rap duo called NoBS Allowed but he has nothing to do with them. His labelmate, Dezmatic is still around doing features as of this year but as for Nobs, I don't know. Hopefully he's doing good wherever he is.

I was asked to find this a few days ago and after looking for a bit managed to find that someone had uploaded the tracks to VK at one point. Quickly grabbed them, re-tagged and got it all working. Hearing this compared to his 2002 work I'm amazed at how much better he sounds. Don't get me wrong, Musicide is an excellent album but this one is just as good.

Rap Bastard / DJ Dog Dick - Split (2004)

Artist: Rap Bastard / DJ Dog Dick Album: Split Location: Baltimore, USA / Genres: Abstract Hip Hop, Sound Collage, Noise Year Released: 2004 Date Re-Found / Posted: 2023-08-?? (recovered by tib) Format(s) Released: Cassette Explanation: I'll admit I know very little about both artists. DJ Dog Dick, real name Max Eisenberg is a noise artist who I mostly know about from a few collabs with rapper Lil Ugly Mane. 'Rap Bastard', aka HZMT I know actually nothing of. When I added this release to my list is was mainly to illustrate just how many lost releases there is for Eisenberg. He released most of his stuff cassette only, and even though he was ahead of the curb, never got much attention cause of that. As I was writing this, I looked into HZMT / Rap Bastard / Anthony Miller and damn does he have a lot of missing and undocumented releases. He ran his own label and released almost everything exclusively on cassette. A true indie artist. Both artists really have large catalogues...

The Convulsions of Creation - Moonba Is Here (1995)

Artist: The Convulsions of Creation [Chris Shepard & Mike Mangino] Album: Moonba Is Here Location: Piscataway, USA Genres: Cassette Underground, Sound Collage, Drone, Noise Year Released: 1995-xx-xx Format(s) Released: Cassette Explanation: Atlas King is a label I have been tracking for years now. Home to the noise duo, Smersh it was active in the Cassette Underground releasing all sorts of weird tapes. This is one of them. Almost all the acts on Atlas King were just akas of Smersh but unlike the duo, the non-Smersh releases experimented with electronic, noise and other genres. The Convulsions of Creation is one such project, a side-thing by Smersh messing more with drone and sound collage. This release is okay. I'm sure someone will enjoy it more. When it comes to noise I don't like ear-splitting sounds. The first track has a few. It's this dissonant, vaguely "Eastern" sounding drone with rattles and some high-pitched sounds. The second and third track are ...

305 808 & N0ϟPΔ☾ƎΔPƎ - Sons of God (2013)

Artist: 305 808 & N0ϟPΔ☾ƎΔPƎ Album: Sons of God: The Most Outer Place Location: Miami, USA Genres: Witch House Rap, Witch House, Trillwave Year Released: 2013 Format(s) Released: Bandcamp Explanation: I'll admit. This is not my cup of tea. Not only do I know very little about these artists I know even less of who they collaborated with. I only know of this from a RYM list I saw where someone mentioned they were looking for this album. All I know about NoSpaceApe is that he was an artist active in the Witch House Rap scene that existed in the early 2010s. The one Black Kray is often considered the founder of. I know absolutely nothing of 305 808. I can't find any info either. This is a Witch House Rap album, with lots of loud distortion, slurred and incomprehensible lyrics and edgy and dark song titles and sounds. In theory I should like it but as I wrote, it's just not for me. I could just write a whole review on how much I didn't like it but ehn. I don't have...
