Josten Myburgh - FRIENDSFRIENDSFRIENDSFRIENDSFRIENDS (2015)

A hip hop and drone project from hip hop producer and former RYM-user turned classical composer Josten Myburgh. While the project opens up with bursts of noise the majority of this project is just drone and noise mashed up with various popular rap songs. There's a Biggie Smalls track here combined with a piercing drone beat with occasional ambient interludes like Lock it Down. While the remixes are decent the later tracks have just a bit too much high-pitched sounds to the point it becomes unlistenabel. In Shambles is a good example of this. All in all, it starts off strong but is bogged down by the later tracks. I don't know why he deleted it but I do find it pretty humourous that after he did he moved excluively into classical music, never once mentioning this project again. Not sure why. It showed promise. https://archive.org/details/josten-myburgh-friendsfriendsfriendsfriendsfriends-itr-013

Sinister Stricken - Chaos Theory EP (2012)

Sinister Stricken is a British emcee and associate of the Philadelphia-based rap crew, The Lost Children of Babylon. He releaeses his music exclusively on his personal Facebook page with Mediafire links. This EP was released in collaboraiton with several members of LCOB.  His style can arguably be called Spiritual Hip Hop, with his extensive use of new age samples and lyrics constantly covering topics of the occult, spirituality, conspiracy and religion. This EP features other spiritual emcees such as Atma, Tesla's Ghost, Son of Saturn and more. It also features an appearance by American Poets 2099 member, Warcloud. It's pretty good. If you like LCOB you'll like this. Lots of apocalyptic imagery and hard hitting beats.  Enjoy!  https://archive.org/details/sinister-stricken-chaos-theory-ep

Dungeon Loud & Duhmetrius - Ritualistic (2015)

So screw it. After being silent so for long here's a 2nd release. K. Clifton is a rapper from Spokane who has used many aliases and has been part of many different groups over the years. As of 2024 his most recent alias was Dungeon Loud. Clifton has a habit of deleting all of his releases months after uploading them. At the time of writing the only projects of his that are still live are ones that are collaborations. In those instances he doesn't have direct access to those pages to delete them. He uses a depressive rap style, moody and often deadpan beats and a flare for mystical and almost fantastical lyrics. His Dungeon Loud later saw fit to embrace the contempoary Dungeon Rap style. This release doesn't necessarily fit into that style but fits more in the Cloud Rap movement (which was arguably a huge inspiration for Dungeon Rap). This specific release is also a collaboration with rapper Duhmetrius (Spokane) who is only known through collaborations with K. Clifton. Thi...

Manznaita - Pirate Lady (1979)

Merry Christmas everyone!  I realize this blog has been mostly dead for months now though I've been trying to revive it, or at least figure out what the plan is going forward. I'll spare all the deliberations. I'm going to try and post more regularly going into the New Year. No more formalities like when a release was lost or whatnot I have decided to just post whatever lost releases I come across and add them to the Internet Archive.  The only thing I'm still on the fence about is if I want to add NFOs to the releases and fully embrace the warez aesthetic. While I still figure that out I am going to at least post something here that means a lot to me.  Manzanita is a jazz band from San Diego, USA consisting of Tommy Aros, Kelly Jocoy, NAthan East, Peter Sprague, Rob Schniederman, Mark Lessman and Tripp Sprague. In 1979 they released one private-press album called Pirate Lady and never really saw an distribution beyond that. The album has been out of print for over...

Chris [Nobs] - My Tape (2015)

Artist: Nobs (aka Chris) Album: My Tape Location: Brooklyn, USA Genres: Hardcore Hip Hop, Battle Rap Year Released: 2015 Format(s) Released: Mp3 via Own Website, Soundcloud w/ Downloads On Explanation:  Man it's almost been a month since the last post! Well here's a rare album to break the silence. Going forward I'm probably just gonna turn this blog into posting whatever albums I want instead of exclusively stuff off my "Hidden Lost Pockets of Time" list.  Anyways, this is Nobs final album and the only one he released under the name Chris. Nobs is an emcee from Brooklyn known mostly for his work with Dezmatic as the duo Dez & Nobs. Prior to that he was part of a rap crew called Neanderthal Youth.  He never really garnered much of a following though released a few albums over the years. His debut album, Musicide, is really good if you're into that depressive-introspective sound that people used to call 'emo rap' (before Lil Peep and BONES became kn...

Hannibal Lector - Hannibal Lector (2000)

Artist: Hannibal Lector Album: Hannibal Lector Location: Houston, USA or The Midwest, USA Genres: Hardcore Hip Hop, Gangsta Rap Year Released: 2000-xx-xx Format(s) Released: CD Explanation:  Bit of a non-traditional post. Just gonne copypaste my review of the album from RYM.  With a name like Hannibal Lector it makes it kind of hard to search for this record. Even with the information I have now and having listened to this already I'm not really sure who he is. As far as I know he is either a rapper from Houston who was more famously known as Big Bear or a rapper from the midwest who worked with Tech N9ne in the late 90s. Having listened to it I'm still a bit torn but I think this is probably the midwest emcee though a lot of the beats have a southern tinge to them.  Despite a name like Hannibal Lector there isn't much horrorcore to be found here. Just standard hardcore gangster rap. Lots of bars about how rich he is and how you aren't to mess with him. Intersperse...

Jake and Bake Beats - La Planète Sauvage Tape (2017)

Artist: Jake and Bake Beats (currently known as Jabbu) Album: La Planète Sauvage Tape Location: Bensalem, USA Genres: Lo-Fi Hip Hop, Library Music Year Released: 2017-06-14 Format(s) Released: Bandcamp Explanation:  Back in 2017 I listened to a lot of albums. I used to have a list on my page with a brief review of them all but that's since been deleted. Anyway, one of the many tapes I listened to then was this one by Jake and Bake Beats. He's now known as Jabbu but other than that I don't know anything about him. I remember the tape being adequate but never looked deeper into his work.  And I really didn't think about this until a friend going through my ratings asked if I had a copy since Jabbu deleted all his old work. I didn't but after some work between him and another person I know they managed to recover this tape. And here we are today.  It's a lo-fi hip hop beat tape that samples the cult-classic French movie Fantastic Planet. Never seen it myself thou...
